K7, Carter go Dutch post Brexit

Consultancy K7 Media is responding to the UK’s impending exit from the European Union by opening an office in the Netherlands under former Endemol Shine Group International co-CEO Gary Carter.

K7, which is based in the UK city of Manchester, said increased international demand for its services and the country’s triggering of article 50 to begin the process of exiting the EU this week had forced it to look abroad.

The analyst announced in December that Carter would be joining MD Keri Lewis Brown, projects director Phil Birchenall and non-executive director Clare Thompson on the company’s board of directors as a non-executive member.

Carter, former chief operating officer at FremantleMedia, left Endemol Shine in 2015 and will now develop a new service offering strategic advice to top-level management from the new Amsterdam office.

Lewis Brown said: “Prompted by growth in the business and the uncertain economic climate, it is logical for K7 Media to create a presence on the continent.

“In light of the UK’s scheduled departure from the European Union, we are confident that opening a European arm makes strategic, commercial and business sense.”

Carter said: “The Netherlands has a long tradition of media content innovation, and as a hub for flows of trade and services within Europe. The city of Amsterdam has worked tirelessly over the last decade to attract creative and entrepreneurial enterprises.

“As a northern-based UK company with international clients, it is a logical base from which to expand K7’s ever-developing services.”
